German striker Timo Werner has returned to Germany's RB Leipzig from Chelsea London, the Bundesliga club's press office reports. His contract runs until 2026. June. Werner will play at RB Leipzig as No. 11.
"I’m very happy to be able to play for RB Leipzig again. I had a great time here between 2016 and 2020, when we performed brilliantly as newcomers in the league. It was a dignified departure for me to leave the club as record goalscorer, but that’s in the past now and I’m looking ahead, because both I and the club have developed in the past two years," Werner said after the transfer.
Chelsea paid €53 million for Werner in 2020. Werner played in 89 matches for the English club, scoring 23 goals and providing 21 assists.
