Davit Chaloyan, 24, scored Armenia’s first medal at AIBA World Boxing Championships 2021 Belgrade with an impressive victory and made it to the semi-final.
In the quarter final of boxers in the +92 kg category, Armenia’s representative faced off against Uzbek boxer Lazizbek Mulujonov and beat the latter 3-2 in the difficult duel, securing at least a bronze medal.
During the semi-final, Chaloyan’s opponent will be Azerbaijani boxer Mohammad Abdulayev. Chaloyan is participating in the adult world championship for the first time.
