The rival of the Armenian athlete was Mohamed Ibrahim El Sayed (Egypt). The fight ended 7-7.
The bronze medalist of the European Championship (2018, 2019, 2020) Aslanyan in the 1/8 finals faced the world champion (2016) and European champion (2017) Bálint Korpási from Hungary and defeated him in a fight.
