Senior player of the Spain national team, 32-year-old midfielder for FC Barcelona Sergio Busquets has been named the top footballer of the Croatia-Spain match in the 1/8 final of Euro 2020, UEFA’s press service reported.
Spain defeated Croatia in the added time (5-3), and the main time ended with a tie (3-3).
Busquets was also named the top footballer after the match in the third round of the group stage. Spain defeated the Slovaks 5-0 and scored a pass to the play-off.
The Spain national team made it to the quarter-final of Euro 2020, defeating the world’s vice-champion Croatia team in the added time (5-3). The main time of the match held in Copenhagen ended with a tie (3-3).
The first goal was scored in the 20th minute after the own goal of 18-year-old midfielder for FC Barcelona Pedri.
In the 38th minute, Luis Enrique’s team managed to tie the score after PSG’s 29-year-old midfielder Pablo Sarabia scored a goal.
In the 57th minute, the Spain national team moved forward after the goal scored by Chelsea’s 31-year-old center-back Cesar Azpilicueta.
After 20 minutes, Spain was at an advantage after Manchester City’s 21-year-old forward Ferran Torres.
In the 85th minute, the Croatia team reduced the difference thanks to the goal scored by Dynamo’s 28-year-old forward Mislav Orsic. In the added third minute, Zlatko Dalic’s team’s third goal was scored by Atalanta’s 26-year-old midfielder Mario Pasalic.
Additional time was set. In the 100th minute, the Spain national team’s fourth goal was scored by 28-year-old forward for Juventus Alvaro Morata. In the 103rd minute, the score became 5-3 due to a goal scored by Real Sociedad’s 24-year-old midfielder Mikel Oyarzabal.
Spain will face off against the winner of world’s champion France and Switzerland during the quarter-final.
