The Azerbaijan Federation of Sports Bowling submitted a formal complaint to the Russia Federation of Sports Bowling to the effect that bowler Aramais Suleymanyan was registered as Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) representative at the Russian Open of the European Bowling Tour, Vesti.Az reports.
Following the Azerbaijanis’ protest, the event organizers announced they will not cancel Suleymanyan’s results, but will note “Azerbaijan” as the country he represents.
At the end, however, Russianopenbowling.ru posted that Aramais Suleymanyan represented Russia, but “NKR” was noted in the final result record.
Aramais Suleymanyan came in 116th in the tournament.
