FC Urartu owner Dzhevan Cheloyants spoke about the problems in Armenian football.
“Last season was successful for us. We ranked third and have unsuccessful performance in European competition. This season we started very badly,” he said adding that “last season, we completely changed the lawn, installed a drainage system and, most importantly, installed a lighting system in the stadium. Last year, we spent about $ 700 thousand on infrastructure. With this money we could invite strong players. But we have chosen the future of our children.”
According to him, he intends to build a stadium.
“But I need state support for this. I really want to contribute to the development of Armenian football. We turned to the city hall and designated the place where we want to build a stadium and a park,” he said adding that they were rejected as there will be a 70-story building. “If this is more important, give us another place. But they didn’t do it.”
