Young Armenian chess player maintains European Champion’s title

Twelve-year-old Armenian chess player, FIDE master Haik Martirosyan, secured victory in the Boys’ 12 Year Old Group, prior to the penultimate stage in the European Youth Championships being held in Prague, and maintained his European Youth Champion’s title.

He demonstrated a perfect result, after eight rounds, left more than 140 players behind, and raised his personal ranking by close to forty points.

But Saturday’s last Round 9 will be crucial for Armenia’s other young chess players competing at the event.

In the Boys’ 14 Year Old Group, Manuel Petrosyan currently has 6.5 points, and he shares 2nd-5th place with three other players.
