YEREVAN. – Congratulations to us all, thank you to our supporters, our nation, federation, and all those who stood with us and were rooting for us. This is not solely our achievement; this is a result of great team work.

Armenia national youth weightlifting team coach Vigen Khachatryan, who led the squad at the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games which were held in Nanjing, China, said the aforementioned at a press conference on Monday.

“We have done a long work [even] before leaving for the Olympics. I also would like to point out the unity and solidarity of Armenia’s delegation; everyone was talking about it,” Khachatryan added.

Simon Martirosyan (+85 kg), for his part, noted that nothing has changed in his life after winning the Olympic gold medal.

“My objective is to become Olympic champion in the adults,” he stated.

In turn, Armenia’s other Olympic champion, Hakob Mkrtchyan (77 kg), said that weightlifting has a great place in his life.
