London will not sleep on Friday: NEWS.am Sport reports from the British capital (PHOTOS)

LONDON. – The weather is cold and dreary in London on the eve of Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final between Germany’s Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

Even though this is an ordinary rainy weather for the Londoners, the German fans and the journalists, who have come for the match, are complaining.

This is the second Champions League final in two years for London. The British capital city hosted last year’s Summer Olympics, and that is why this year’s most important football event does not seem to be that great of an occasion for London.

But interest is high. At present, I am sitting in a central London café and listening to the people, who are sitting at the table across, discussing the upcoming game.

London is currently “flooded” with Germans. The impression is that more number of Borussia fans have arrived in London.

The German’s joy doubled on Thursday, when it became clear that the 2015 Champions League final will be played in Berlin. But there are fans that have not so happily arrived in London. Many of them are standing nearby the entrance of Wembley Stadium, where Saturday’s football clash will be held, with a hope of buying match tickets from scalpers.

Wembley Stadium has 85,700-seat capacity. The fans of the two clubs were sold 25,000 tickets, each, another 9,200 tickets were auctioned off, 10,000 tickets were distributed to the event sponsors, and the remaining tickets were distributed among UEFA and several other organizations.

Londoners, however, are not complaining about the possibility of not being able to attend the game. Most of them will be happy to follow the match in the pubs.

Despite the gloomy weather, the two German clubs held practice sessions at Wembley Stadium on Friday evening, and the players from both teams seem to have convinced their respective fans yet again that their own club will be this year’s Champions League winner.

Saturday will be a big day in London, and it seems the British capital city will not sleep on Friday.
