UEFA to pay clubs €100 million for EURO 2012

UEFA President Michel Platini and the European Club Association (ECA) Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge signed on Thursday a new memorandum at annual UEFA Congress in Istanbul, Turkey.

The key outcome of the congress was that UEFA will double the amount for the ECA clubs for participation in EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. The starting sum €55 million increased to €100 million, UEFA official website reports.

The next European championship will be held in France in 2016. Number of the participants will be increased from 16 to 24 and the amount will be further increased to € 150 million.
