Four sambists will represent Armenia at 2013 Universiade

YEREVAN. – Involvement of Armenian sambists in the list of participants of the 2013 Universiade can be characterized as a considerable progress, head coach of the national sambo team told NEWS.am Sport.

Vovik Khojoyan said he expects victories and good performance.   

“Our team has been formed. Four sambists will represent Armenia at Universiade,” the head coach said.

The athletes representing Armenia are Europe and world championships’ medalist Tigran Kirakosyan (52 kg), European champion Gor Mayilyan (57 kg), medalist of world championships Mher Karapetyan (82 kg) and world and Europe championships’ medalist Hakob Arakelyan (100 kg).

At the moment the athletes are training with their personal coaches, he added.

The 27th Summer Universiade will be held in Kazan on July 6-17 and will include 27 sports.

Armenian athletes will participate in chess, swimming, wrestling, boxing, judo, sambo, weightlifting and athletics competitions.
