After a long-lasting illness, former Borussia Dortmund player Friedhelm “Timo” Konietzka died at the age of 73, and by way of euthanasia. This was informed by the wife of Konietzka, who had also coached Switzerland’s Zurich and Grasshoppers football teams.
“Timo” Konietzka is known as the scorer of the first German Bundesliga goal, when, in 1963, he scored against SV Werder Bremen.
Konietzka, who had received Swiss citizenship in 1988, ended his life through euthanasia, which is legal in Switzerland, Gazeta.ru informs.
