Euro 2016 Final: 40 fans detained in Paris rioting (PHOTOS)

Forty people were arrested due to the rioting before, during, and after the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro 2016 final between the host nation, France, and Portugal, according to The Daily Mail newspaper of Great Britain.

The fans’ riots started before the match in Paris, and the police were forced to use tear gas and water cannons.

The incident occurred at the French capital city’s Euro 2016 fanzone, which is in the Champ de Mars large public greenspace at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, where 90 thousand supporters had assembled. 

According to police, the fans set several vehicles on fire. 

The clashes continued also during the European Championship final.

And after the match, there were riots at Champs-Élysées, too.

As reported earlier, Portugal were crowned European Champions for the first time in the nation’s history.

They beat France by a score of 1-0 in Sunday’s Euro 2016 Final.

Portugal defeated Les Bleus with Éder’s extra-time goal in the 110th minute.
