Portugal on Thursday defeated Poland after a penalty shootout in the first quarterfinal match of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro 2016, which France is hosting.
The regular 90 minutes of the match ended in a 1-1 tie, and no goals were scored in extra time.
In the semifinals, Portugal will face the winner of the Wales-Belgium clash in the Euro 2016 second quarterfinal game on Friday.
