Euro 2016: Spain lose to Croatia and will face Italy in playoffs (PHOTOS)

The reining European champions, Spain, and runners-up Italy will face each other in the knockout stage in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro 2016, which France is hosting

In Tuesday’s third-round group stage matches, the Croats defeated the Spaniards by a score of 2-1 and took first place in Group D. Spain, on the other hand, advanced to the Euro 2016 knockout stage as second in this group, and they will lock horns with Italy.

In the other third-round game in Group D on the same day, Turkey beat the Czech Republic 2-0 and placed third in this group. The Czechs came in last in this group and bid farewell to Euro 2016. Turkey could advance to the playoffs as one of the four top third-place squads.

In addition, Switzerland will kick off against Poland in the knockout stage.
