Right before kick-off of the Russian Premier League match between FC Terek Grozny and FC Rostov, both teams observed a minute of silence in memory of 19-year-old Russian-Armenian football player Grisha Simonyan.
Before the start of the game, which was played in the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation, the players of both clubs entered the pitch wearing special jerseys with the photograph of Simonyan, who died on September 26 as a result of brain cancer, and with the inscription: “We Remember,” informed the Terek official website.
In March 2014, Grisha Simonyan, who was battling cancer at the time, had signed a deal with FC Terek. Subsequently, Ramzan Kadyrov, who is Head of the Chechen Republic and Chairman of FC Terek Grozny, had covered some of the treatment expenses of the young footballer.
