Sargis Shahinyan: I received warm welcome in Portugal

By Vera Martirosyan

Armenian youth national midfielder Sargis Shahinyan has already arrived in Portugal where he will perform for Braga.

The 17-year-old former player of Mika FC underwent tryout in Portugal in May and later signed a contract with the club.

“I am grateful to Mika leadership, as they allowed me to continue my career in Europe. I want to thank the players who played a crucial role in my development,” he told NEWS.am Sport in his first interview after joining Braga.

Shahinyan was warmly welcomed in Portugal and is pleased to see such attitude of the players.

“Here they have all necessary conditions for players to improve their qualities and become real professionals. They do care about details,” he said.

Asked about his debut for the new club, Sargis said he does not know exactly when it will happen.

“Braga like to play short passing game. I like this style. It is how I played for Mika,” he added.

However, because of joining a new club, Sargis is likely to miss Armenia U21 national’s match against Kazakhstan. He thanked youth squad manager Rafael Nazaryan for an opportunity to fly to Portugal at the expense of trainings. “I wish them success,” Sargis emphasized.
