Spain’s FC Barcelona have finally submitted a formal bid for England’s Chelsea defender David Luiz, The Telegraph reports.
Barcelona made contact with Chelsea on Tuesday regarding the 27-year-old Brazil international and its representatives have arrived in London to submit a bid of just under £34.5 million.
Chelsea, however, will reject an offer of that scale, having indicated to Germany’s Bayern Munich, who had previously made an inquiry, that they would only entertain a deal of €60 million (£52 million).
If Chelsea do eventually sell Luiz, it is likely that they will turn to France international Eliaquim Mangala, but only if FC Porto of Portugal drop their asking price of €50 million (£42 million)—the release clause for the 22-year-old central defender.
