By defeating the French side Lens 9–1 in an away match during the fourth round of the Champions League, the Italian club Como has equaled a historic record set by the Dutch club Feyenoord in European club competitions, reports Opta.
Como is the second team to score 9 goals in a European club competition match.
In 1971, Feyenoord defeated the Cypriot club Olympiakos 9–0.
In the Champions League, other teams have also secured victories with an 8-goal margin: England’s Liverpool, who beat Turkey’s Besiktas 8–0 in 2007, and Real Madrid, who defeated Sweden’s Malmo 8–0 in 2015.
