Head coach of the Spanish national team, the reigning World and European champions, Luis de la Fuente was named Coach of the Year at the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony held in London.
In the final of the World Championship held in the USA this summer, the Spanish national team defeated Argentina with a score of 1–0.
