Benfica, the 38-time Portuguese football champion, has shared new details on its official website regarding the "Benfica Academy Armenia" project.
The academy, set to open on the premises of the Avan Football Academy, has taken another step forward in its preparatory phase. The project leaders have traveled to Lisbon to gain a deeper understanding of Benfica’s methodology, culture, and identity.
Bringing Benfica’s coaching methodology to Armenia, creating opportunities for over 1,000 young footballers, and contributing to the development of football in the Caucasus region are among the primary objectives of "Benfica Academy Armenia."
The project, established through a partnership between Sport Lisboa e Benfica and Football Investment Group, is set to launch in the summer of 2027.
Alfred Sadoyan, founder of "Benfica Academy Armenia," and Director Artur Azaryan participated in a training program in the Portuguese capital, which focused on technical instruction as well as integration into Benfica’s culture and identity.
They held meetings with representatives from various departments of the club, taking place at Benfica’s home stadium, Estádio da Luz, and the Adidas Benfica Campus. The objective was to gain a deeper understanding of the working methods, organizational principles, and values that underpin Benfica’s model for the development of young football players.
The Benfica Academy in Armenia will feature a stadium, six football pitches, and other high-quality infrastructure, designed to accommodate over 1,000 football players aged 4 to 17.
The sports program will encompass various levels of play, ranging from amateur football to competitive teams and elite divisions.
