Head coach of the Armenian national football team Yeghishe Melikyan commented on the 0–0 draw against Montenegro in the fourth round of the Nations League Group C2 match held in Podgorica during the post-match press conference.
"I am very proud of my guys. Only I know the difficulties the team overcame to reach this fourth game, and we proved a lot. There were players who, despite the pain, came up to me before the match and said they were ready to take the field. Take our captain, for instance—he played through the pain for the fourth match in a row. That is exactly what a leader, a team captain, should be. Discipline, dedication, character—everything I wanted to see from the team, I saw.
Thank you to our fans who traveled a long and difficult road and stood by us to the very end; we truly appreciate it. Thank you all. This team has a future; it is a good, young squad. We must all believe in our team and move forward together," said Yeghishe Melikyan.
In Yerevan, the Armenian national team lost to Montenegro 2–3.
Montenegro leads the group with 10 points. Cyprus sits in second place with 7 points. The Armenian team holds third place with 4 points.
On November 12, the Armenian national team will host Cyprus, and on November 15, they will play an away match against Latvia.
