The head coach of the Portuguese national football team Jorge Jesus explained why he did not give playing time to 41-year-old Saudi club Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo during the Nations League match against Norway. The Portuguese team won 2–1.
"I was thinking about sending him onto the pitch for half an hour. I even had an agreement with Ronaldo to that effect, but the flow of the game dictated otherwise. I decided it wasn't the right moment to bring him into the action. Ramos was playing well and had scored a goal, so I decided it wasn't the time to substitute him. Time was running out, and by the end, the priority was to maintain balance and hold onto the lead.
There are still two matches ahead. It is possible that Ronaldo will play against Denmark," A Bola quotes Jesus as saying.
Portugal will visit the Danish national team on October 1.
