The 2029 CIS Sports Games will be held in Armenia, and Yerevan will become the CIS Sports Capital. This decision was reached at a meeting of the Council on Physical Culture and Sports of the CIS Member States held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport announced the news.
The Council meeting took place on September 27, following the ceremonial presentation of the certificate designating Almaty as the "CIS Sports Capital 2026." Representatives from nine CIS states—Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan—participated in the meeting.
