Chess Olympiad: Armenia's team lost to the Uzbekistan team

In the penultimate round of the World Chess Olympiad taking place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, the Armenian national team faced the Uzbekistan team and lost with a score of 0.5–3.5.

Hayk Martirosyan lost to Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Robert Hovhannisyan to Javokhir Sindarov, and Gabriel Sargissian to Mukhidin Madaminov. Shant Sargsyan drew his match against Nodirbek Yakubboev.

Uzbekistan leads the standings with 18 points. Defending champion India has secured 17 points. The Armenian team has 15 points.

In previous rounds, the Armenian team defeated Barbados (4–0), Scotland (3.5–0.5), Sweden (2.5–1.5), Argentina (2.5–1.5), and Iran (2.5–1.5), drew with China (2–2), the USA (2–2), and the Netherlands (2–2), defeated Azerbaijan (2.5–1.5).

The Uzbekistan team defeated Jamaica (4–0), Peru (3.5–0.5), Austria (3–1), Turkey (2.5–1.5), Hungary (4–0), India (2.5–1.5), and China (3–1), lost to Germany (1.5–2.5), defeated the USA team (2.5–1.5).
