Nations League: Armenia national team beat Latvia

In the opening match of the Nations League Group C2, the Armenian national football team hosted Latvia and secured a 2–0 victory.

22-year-old defender Georgi Harutyunyan (Puskas Akademia, Hungary) scored in the 31st minute. The assist came from the national team captain, 26-year-old midfielder Eduard Spertsyan (Al-Ahli, Saudi Arabia).

In the 75th minute, 20-year-old forward Artur Gharibyan (Rodina Moscow)—who had come on as a substitute in the 69th minute to make his national team debut—also found the back of the net (video).

The assist came from 25-year-old forward Zhirayr Shaghoyan of the Armenian champions Ararat-Armenia, who had replaced the injured 21-year-old midfielder Karlen Hovhannisyan (Akron, Russia) in the 60th minute.

In the second round, the Armenian national team will host Montenegro on September 28.
