In the first round of the WTA-250 SP Open tournament in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Armenia's representative and world No. 133 Alina Charaeva faced Chinese player You Xiaodi (world No. 207), winning in three sets: 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. The match, which had remained unfinished the previous day, lasted 2 hours and 14 minutes.
In the second round, Alina Charaeva will face Elina Avanesyan (Armenia) who defeated Argentine player Julia Riera (world No. 144) 6-2, 6-4 in her opening match.
The prize fund for the SP Open is $283,000.
