Russian player Karen Khachanov, ranked 50th in the world, has reached the semifinals of the US Open in New York. In the quarterfinals, the 30-year-old Armenian tennis player defeated 21-year-old Belgian Alexander Blockx, ranked 34th globally. Khachanov won the first two sets 6–2, 7–5. In the third set, with the score at 3–2, Blockx retired due to injury; the match lasted 1 hour and 33 minutes.
Khachanov had previously reached the US Open semifinals in 2022.
To secure a spot in the final, Khachanov will face world number three Alexander Zverev of Germany, who defeated world number 70 Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands 6-2, 7-5, 6-1.
The US Open prize fund is $108 million.
