Real Madrid’s Portuguese head coach José Mourinho commented on the 2–1 victory over Italian champions and cup winners Inter Milan in the opening home match of the Champions League.
"I think our players did a fantastic job and won a tough match played under difficult conditions.
In the final minute of the first half, we could have made it 3–0, and then extended the lead to 4–0 or 5–0. But chances aren't always converted into goals.
I want to praise my players for their pressing. We have trained a lot. We choose the right moments and methods for pressing—where and against whom to apply it. That is what the team trains for," Madrid Universal quotes Mourinho as saying.
In the next round, on October 14, Real will play away against the Italian side Roma.
