The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has decided to pause upcoming matches across all divisions of the country's leagues for a round of applause in honor of Lionel Messi.
During the upcoming rounds of both men's and women's football championships, fans will have the opportunity to applaud the legendary forward, who has concluded his career with the national team in the 10th minute of play.
The 39-year-old player for the American club Inter Miami (MLS champions) has made 207 appearances for the Argentine national team, scoring 125 goals and providing 68 assists; his achievements include winning the World Cup (and finishing as runner-up twice), an Olympic gold medal, and two Copa America titles.
