Armenian football champions Ararat-Armenia have advanced to the main stage of the Europa League. In the return leg of the qualifying play-offs, the team led by Manuel Tulipa hosted the Romanian side Universitatea Craiova.
Ararat-Armenia won the match 1–0 at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan.
In the 90th minute, Ararat-Armenia earned a penalty, but 35-year-old Brazilian forward Sandro Lima missed the initial attempt. The referee ordered a retake, and Sandro Lima scored against Universitatea Craiova with his second effort.
In the first leg, the team led by Manuel Tulipa had played out a 1–1 draw in Romania.
Ararat-Armenia achieved a historic victory for Armenian club football and reached the main stage of the Europa League for the first time.
