Max Dowman breaks Lamine Yamal's Champions League age record

Last season's English Premier League runners-up Arsenal's 16-year-old midfielder Max Dowman became the youngest footballer in history to play in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, surpassing the respective age record set by 18-year-old Barcelona and Spain winger Lamine Yamal, Opta reports.

In the match against Sporting Lisbon, Dowman came on as a substitute for Arsenal in the 76th minute—and at the age of 16 years and 97 days.

Yamal had played in Barca's Champions League quarterfinal match against PSG in the spring of 2024 at the age of 16 years and 272 days.
