The United Kingdom (UK) embassy in Armenia failed to issue entry visas to Armenian figure skaters in time, and the Figure Skating Federation of Armenia issued an official statement in this regard.
The statement reads as follows: “It is with deep regret that we inform that Armenian national team figure skaters Semyon Danilyants and sports pair Karina Akopova/Nikita Rakhmanin will not participate in the European Figure Skating Championships, one of the most important competitions of the 2025/26 season.
Despite the timely submission of all necessary documents, the Great Britain embassy [in Armenia] did not issue entry visas to our athletes in time, as a result of which our national team was deprived of the opportunity to participate in the European Championships.
This is a serious blow to the entire seasonal preparation, competitive development, and international ranking positions of our athletes. Years of hard work, preparation, and dedication should not be dependent on administrative delays. The Figure Skating Federation of Armenia is doing everything to prevent the recurrence of such situations and protect the rights of our athletes.
We are grateful to all those who support our team in this difficult moment.
We will continue our fight for the worthy presence of Armenian figure skating in the international arena.”
