Simeone: “They Were the Strongest Opponent We Faced at the Start of This Season”

Diego Simeone, the Argentine head coach of Madrid’s Atletico, commented on his team’s 0:4 defeat against English vice-champion London club Arsenal in the third round of the Champions League away match.

“They were the strongest opponent we have faced at the start of this season. Arteta’s team fights very well and constantly pushes forward. In all areas, they play at the highest level. At first, we performed well, but from the 60th minute onwards, the opponent clearly surpassed us and deservedly won.

We are in a phase of improvement. We need to continue this process. In training, we must focus on our work and forget this result,” Simeone was quoted by UEFA’s website.

Arsenal is third with 9 points, while Atletico is 18th with 3 points.
