Artur Voskanyan: We can all make mistakes, Tigran Barseghyan is no exception

Former midfielder of the Armenian national football team, former head coach of Armenia’s U17, U18, U19, and U21 national squads, and former sporting director of FC Noah, Artur Voskanyan, has expressed his support for Armenia national team captain and Slovan Bratislava forward Tigran Barseghyan.

Barseghyan had received a red card for headbutting an opponent in Armenia’s match against Ireland in Matchday 4 of Group F in the European Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. After his dismissal, Armenia had conceded a goal and lost 0-1.

“We can all make mistakes; Tigran Barseghyan is no exception. Football is a game where everyone can make mistakes — and everyone does and will continue to do so.

It’s just that in football, in many cases, we don’t notice the mistakes, as it’s a team game, and often teammates correct their teammate’s errors.

And in many matches, Tigran has helped his teammates (...).

We must respect, appreciate, and not forget Tigran’s long years of work and dedication to our national team,” Artur Voskanyan wrote on Facebook.

Armenia are last in Group F, with just 3 points.
