Thanks to reaching the semifinals of the National Bank Open Presented by Rogers tournament in Toronto, Canada, current world No.16 Karen Khachanov (Russia) will rise to at least No.13 in the next weekly world rankings of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and will overtake Daniil Medvedev (Russia), who will drop to world No.15.
As a result, the Muscovite Armenian will become Russia's No.2 tennis player.
Russia’s current No.1 is Andrey Rublev, who is No.11 in the current ATP rankings.
Khachanov's opponent in the semifinals of the National Bank Open Presented by Rogers will be world No.3 Alexander Zverev (Germany).
