Tulipa, the Portuguese head coach of last season’s Armenian Premier League runners-up Ararat-Armenia, commented on their 2-1 win against Universitatea Cluj (Romania) in the second leg of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.
He expressed a view that Ararat-Armenia were the real winners of this confrontation. They played well in both games, they could have gone to the second leg with an advantage, but in the second leg they were in the role of the loser and achieved a willful victory, said Tulipa.
It was a fantastic atmosphere, a pleasant environment, and Ararat-Armenia players are not used to such a wonderful fan atmosphere, added Tulipa. He noted that the main thing was the desire, and Ararat-Armenia entered the game well and had good scoring chances right from the start.
Later, when the opponent started playing with two strikers, Ararat-Armenia were able to adapt to it, counter the opponent, and achieve a positive result, said Tulipa. In the third qualifying round, Ararat-Armenia's opponents will be Sparta Praha (Czech Republic).
