In the Round of 16, the representative of Armenia defeated world No. 94 Greet Minnen (Belgium) in two sets—6:2, 6:2. The match lasted 1 hour and 2 minutes.
Avanesyan's quarterfinal opponent will be the winner of the clash between world No. 36 Amanda Anisimova (USA) and world No. 97 Anna Bondar (Hungary) in the Round of 16.
The prize fund of the Hobart International is $275 thousand.
