World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has made it to the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Masters tournament in China.
The Italian tennis star defeated world 16th ranked Ben Shelton (USA) in two sets—6:4, 7:6 (7:1)—in the Round of 16. The match lasted 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Sinner's opponent in the quarterfinals will be the winner of the clash between Daniil Medvedev (Russia), the 5th ranked player in the world, and world No. 12 Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece) in the Round of 16.
The prize fund of the Shanghai Masters is $8.9 million.
