World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has made it to the quarterfinals of the US Open championship in New York.
In the Round of 16, the Italian tennis star defeated world's 14th ranked Tommy Paul (USA) in three sets—7:6 (7:3), 7:6 (7:5), 6:1.
Sinner's opponent in the quarterfinals will be world's fifth ranked Daniil Medvedev (Russia), who earlier had defeated world's 34th ranked Nuno Borges (Portugal) in three sets—6:0, 6:1, 6:3—in the Round of 16 clash.
The prize fund of the US Open is $75 million.
