Elina Avanesyan, the 58th ranked women’s tennis player in the world, started her campaign at the Cincinnati Masters—being held in the US - with a victory.
In her first match after receiving Armenian citizenship, the now former Russian national tennis player competed with world's 410th ranked Lauren Davis (USA) in the qualifiers and won in two sets: 6:3, 6:1. The match lasted 1 hour and 23 minutes.
The prize fund of the Cincinnati Masters is $3.2 million.
