The veteran midfielder of the German national football team, Toni Kroos, explained why he returned to the national squad after a long break, accepting manager Julian Nagelsmann's invite.
"My return [to the German national squad] is connected with the goal of winning the title of European champion. I would not have returned if I thought there was no chance to win the Euro 2024 title.
They [i.e. Germany] win important matches thanks to the strong midfield center. The team with dominance in the center of the pitch has a greater chance of achieving success," Kroos, 34, said, the UEFA website reports.
Hosts Germany will face Spain in the quarterfinals of Euro 2024. The match will take place Friday and start at 8pm Armenian time.
And after Euro 2024, Toni Kroos will retire from professional football.
