World number six Markéta Vondroušová lost at the start of the Wimbledon tournament. Last year's champion battled against 83rd-ranked Jessica Bouzas Maneiro of Spain, who won 6-4, 6-2.
The Czech tennis player became the first Wimbledon winner in 30 years to fail to break the first-round barrier. The last time the German Steffi Graf lost the at start next year after winning the title.
