Barcelona manager Xavi congratulated Real Madrid on winning the Spanish La Liga title.
Barca beat Rayo Vallecano 3-0 in the penultimate round and secured the second place in the current La Liga season.
"Congratulations to Madrid. The Madrid club had an excellent season. We [i.e. Barca] could not fight with them. Second place was the minimum task. We will play in the Supercopa [de Espana (Spanish Super Cup)]. I am happy with the result," Xavi said, Marca reports.
Before the last round, Real Madrid are first, with 94 points, in the current La Liga standings, and Barcelona are second, with 82 points. And Girona have secured third place, with 78 points.
