Madrid Open: Nadal is out

The former world number one, 22-time winner of the Grand Slam, Rafael Nadal, was defeated in the Round of 16 of the Madrid Open.

The 37-year-old Spanish tennis star faced world No. 31 Jiri Lehecka (Czech Republic), who won in two sets—7:5, 6:4. The match lasted 2 hours and 2 minutes.

Nadal is a five-time winner of the Madrid Open.

Lehecka's opponent in the quarterfinals of this tournament will be world No.4 Daniil Medvedev (Russia).

The prize fund of the Madrid Open is 7.8 million euros.
