Latvia have reached the semifinals of the World Hockey Championships for the first time in history.
In the quarterfinals in Riga, the Latvians defeated Sweden 3-1.
Latvia's opponents in the semifinals will be Canada, which defeated Finland 4-1 in their quarterfinals.
The other semifinal pairing is USA vs. Germany. In the quarterfinals, the Americans beat the Czech Republic 3-0, and the Germans won 3-1 over Switzerland.
