The captain of the Turkish handball team, Cemal Kutahya, and his 5-year-old son died under the rubble in Maras, according to the official website of the Turkish Handball Federation.
The athlete's pregnant wife and her mother are still missing.
Earlier, it was reported that players and coaches of Kahramanmaraspor club were left under the rubble as a result of the earthquake in Turkey.
Kahramanmarasspor perform in the fourth league of the country.
All sports activities in Turkey have been suspended.
