Henrikh Mkhitaryan: It was honor for me represent Armenia national squad

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the former captain of the Armenian national football team and the Inter Milan midfielder, spoke about Armenia and himself in a video prepared by his club.

"[Armenia’s] Yerevan is a wonderful city, especially in summer when it's hot; there are many people on the street, having a good time. I want to return to Yerevan when I don't play football anymore; but now I'm here, in Milan," said Mkhitaryan.

"I started playing football in France, where my father played. He was a striker, the source of my inspiration to start playing football. I started training more seriously when I returned to Armenia.

For me, the first among Armenian football players is my father. He was my idol. I have never seen his game on the pitch, I watched it on videos.

It was an honor for me to represent the Armenian national team, and I gave my best to the national team, striving to win a spot at the European championship or the World Cup. We didn't reach those goals, but I gave the team everything I could.

I have ended my international duty, which I'm sad about, but it's my decision. Everyone loves football in Armenia. Not many people follow the matches of the national league, but the stadium is full for the matches of the national team.

We [Armenians] are stronger in individual sports: boxing, wrestling," Mkhitaryan added.
