Elina Avanesyan of Russia, 19, reached the quarterfinals of the WTA250 tournament in Bogota, Colombia.
Avanesyan defeated Lucrezia Stefanini of Italy 6-2, 6-2. The match lasted 1 hour and 22 minutes.
Avanesyan will play the winner of María Camila Osorio Serrano (Colombia) - Ipek Oz (Turkey) for the exit to the semifinals.
Serrano won the tournament last year.
The prize fund of the tournament in Bogota is $239,000.
