Reigning German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and German national football team goalkeeper Manuel Neuer underwent successful surgery on his right knee joint on Sunday.
Bayern will therefore have to do without their captain for the coming weeks, reported the press service of the club.
"All of us in the club and the team wish Manuel a good and speedy recovery, and we're sure he'll be back to full fitness with us soon," said Bayern board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic.
To note, Manuel Neuer had equaled the Bundesliga record for most wins, joining former goalkeeping great Oliver Kahn on 310 victories. Neuer, 35, brought up the record number as Bayern Munich beat RB Leipzig 3-2 in the 21st round of the Bundesliga.
